Any ideas on how to integrate it on the existant API? I would say 
something like letting Allegro detect a joystick of one axis, or 
something like that, which when you don't move returns to y=0, or 
something similar.

But then, is there any standard way of accessing that wheel? 
Would it be detected only under windows with the help of DirectX?
