Yes.

The time service provided by the other instance will have more noise
than if it was served directly from the OS instance.
By the other instance you mean the chrony in the pod ?
A better way
would be to synchronize it to the OS instance instead of the internet
servers.
You mean that I should set the internet sources for the chrony in the OS, and tell the chrony in the pod to use only the local clock as a reference ?
