It took a bit longer, but it's now implemented in git. You can use
it like this:
# ./chronyd -q "server pool.ntp.org iburst"
2014-04-09T14:43:47Z chronyd version DEVELOPMENT starting
2014-04-09T14:43:47Z Initial frequency -13.273 ppm
2014-04-09T14:43:52Z System clock wrong by -0.321030 seconds (step)
2014-04-09T14:43:52Z chronyd exiting
